Emerald Bay is a popular and well-photographed park on Lake Tahoe, the second deepest lake in the US, known for the clarity of its water and dramatic setting 6,225 feet high in the Sierra Nevadas. Emerald Bay State Park also features vikingsholm, one of the finest example of scandinavian architecture in the US. Constructed in 1929, it served as a summer home. fannette island, located in the center of Emerald Bay, is the only island in lake Tahoe. The ruins of a small stone building, called the "Tea House" remains in the island
