This unit of the National Park system preserves a two to three story pueblo ruin on the summit of a limestone and sandstone ridge near Clarkdale, Arizona. Built by the sinagua people and occupied between 1125 and 1400 AD, it is the largest and best preserved of many sinagua ruins in the Verde Valley. Excavated in 1935 and 1936, Franklin Roosevelt designated the National Monument in 1939.
