The Watchman guards the south entrance to Zion National Park. Standing 6,545 feet high, it towers above the riparian woodland along the Virgin River. Composed of Navajo sandstone above red shale from the Kayenta Formation, The Watchman is a geologic feature of the Colorado Plateau. Zion National Park is situated where the Great Basin, Mojave Desert and Colorado Plateau meet, offering visitors an unusual variety of Plants and animals.
