These Massive pinnipeds (a group of marine mammals) weigh up to 2,000 pounds. Only walruses and elephants seals are larger. Males form rookery each year in May. Females arrive a week later, moving freely from one male's territory to another until the rookery disbands in August. Steller sea lion are skilled and opportunistic marine predators, feeding on a wide range of fish and cephalopods. In turn, they are prey for orca whales and white sharks.
